There is another kind of soldier that we often forget on Memorial Day: the martyr.
Both the soldiers who take up arms to fight against evil and the martyr who takes up prayers to fight against evil are to be remembered.
The soldier does not love killing. The martyr does not love dying. But both know that they are a part of something much bigger than they are and give their lives to it.
I would not choose either for myself. But if I had to choose, I would go the way of the martyr. But both have my prayers.
