(Worship leader: Play this David psalm on the instrument he brought back from Gath.)
Lord Yahweh,
Yours is the most kingly name
In all of creation!
If I were to explore the vastness
Of space,
Your glory would still be beyond reach.
And yet it’s through baby babble
That you silence
The violence of the vengeful.
When I lay back and look up at the night sky,
I see your good work on display —
The moon and stars in the orbits
You set them spinning in.
And when I think on the immense ocean
Of space,
I wonder that you give humanity
Any attention at all.
How is it that you actually care for each of us
Children of men?
But here we are
Just a small step lower than the angels,
And yet royalty all the same.
For you have given us glory and honor
Which should only be yours.
You’ve made the creation a kingdom
And given us the authority to rule it,
With all things as our servants:
The domesticated animals
And the wild ones, too;
The birds that soar the heavens
And the fish the dive the depths,
Even the mysterious ones we never see.
Lord Yahweh,
Yours is the most kingly name
In all of creation!
