(A psalm for singing with acoustic guitar.)
In the words of Aaron’s blessing,
“May God be gracious to us and bless us;
May he make his face to shine upon us —”
So that —
[“So that”? There’s no “so that” in Aaron’s blessing!
Well, there is now.]
So that every part of the earth may know your ways
So that every nation may taste your goodness.
May your praise arise not just from your people, God,
But may all peoples praise you.
May every nation have cause for singing.
They may not know it,
But you rule and guide them all
And you do so with amazing equity.
Such goodness should cause them
To spill over with praise,
All people in every place
Joining in one song to you.
You cause the earth to give us its bounty.
You, our God, give us a sweet, sweet life.
Keep on doing it, God!
So that all people one day will call you King,
All people to the very ends of the earth.
