Daniel is best known for dealing with lions. He did. But just once. What he dealt with a lot was the new culture he found himself in, once he and his friends were dragged off to Babylon.
You see, Daniel and his friends were ripped from friendly-to-faith Jerusalem and dropped into the often hostile dominant culture of Babylon. But their response to this new culture wasn’t what we’d expect. It was nuanced, not knee-jerk. They considered each situation, resisting in some cases and assisting in others.
The linked video is fairly brief. In it, I look at the first six chapters of Daniel for clues to an over-arching theme that deals with how we as the Lord’s people deal with the culture surrounding us.
